Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is the official test to evaluate and certify non-native language speakers. There 5 Levels, which are in order from the highest level N1, N2, N3, N4, and N5. The JLPT consists of reading comprehension, listening, grammar, and vocabulary sections. If you intend to stay and live in Japan, the advantage after you take JLPT are for applying to universities in Japan, communicating and adapting with the local communities, and also gaining more opportunities both for internship and having a full-time job.
